I honestly just realized…
that I haven’t posted anything about E3 even though I was watching it religiously.
So, here are my thoughts;
SONY:
You’re usually my favourite, but you kinda flopped this time around. The vita is hardly anything to be bragging about right now. I wasn’t really impressed with what you showed and I really feel like you should be creating a whole new networking system after what happened with PSN, then you can have the whole sha-bang of new features incorporated into it and have mass amounts of security. Other than that, I was surprised that you guys haven’t been pushing the Move all that much since you introduced it last year, I really think that’s in your favour. You guys were definitely in last place this year, sorry guys.
MICROSOFT:
I really think you guys need to take the hint that the majority of your users don’t give a FUCK about Kinect. Stop trying to incorporate it into all of your major games, because frankly, no one wants to look like an idiot shooting the way you showed for Ghost Recon. I realize you guys are trying to make more money, but adding voice controls to Mass Effect 3 via the Kinect when a headset could do the same job is a bit ridiculous. However, I may seem harsh, you guys did release a bunch of titles and 360 features that made me quite happy. Another Halo trilogy sounds great, I just really hope you guys don’t drag it out and kill it like Infinity Ward and Treyarch have with the COD series. I like how you’ve added live TV to your features on X-Box Live, seems like quite a convenient option. I’d place you guys second overall.
NINTENDO:
I really think you guys have listened to consumers judging by what you revealed to everyone. Wii U is a stupid name, but if people only need to buy one new controller, they’re going to be so ridiculously happy that they’re saving money. The new controller is ridiculously innovative and I think is a great option to have for convenience, new styles of gameplay, and will appeal to most if not all gamers once people see what this device is capable of. Another win for Nintendo is bringing over more titles to their console and FINALLY updating the console’s graphics, allowing HD content. Adding these titles is a great incentive to the gaming community that previously (and still does) scoff at the Wii when it comes to hardcore gaming. Now, the 3DS is another story. Personally, I feel as if you guys whipped out too many handheld systems too quickly, there wasn’t enough time to breathe between the DS, DSLite, DSi, and now the 3DS. Sure, it’s a cool idea, but for what you’re charging for it, I might as well go buy another console instead. If you guys had waited until this year to release the 3DS maybe your sales wouldn’t have been so shitty. However, you’re releasing some pretty awesome titles including Mariokart 3d and Luigi’s Mansion 2, so I’m interested in how the consumer market is going to react to this. If Nintendo gets it right, they can easily take over the market with the current strategies they are using, hardcore gamers just need to get a taste of what the Wii U can do that the Wii couldn’t. First place, no doubt, keep up the good work and you’ll be on the top in no time.
Here are some of the games that I’m excited for:
Mass Effect 3
Battlefield 3
Skyrim
Diablo 3
The Old Republic (Even though I’m not really a Star Wars fan, this looks promising)
Skyward Sword
